1. Quick start
- Choose “Get Started” in ScrollMind and allow Screen Time access.
- Open Apple's app picker and select the apps, categories, or websites you want to use less.
- Set a daily or per-app budget, then choose reminders or protection at the limit.
- Save the plan and return to Today to confirm that it is active.
The initial release does not require an account. Rules stay on the current device, so another iPhone or iPad must be set up separately.
2. Permissions and reminders
A reminder did not appear
Confirm that notifications are allowed for ScrollMind in system Settings and that the plan is active in the app. Focus modes, Notification Summary, and device state can affect when a notification is shown.
Screen Time access is not active
Return to setup in ScrollMind and authorize Family Controls again. If permission was denied or revoked, check the relevant Screen Time settings and reopen the app.
How time is counted after a change
iOS accumulates foreground use of the selected app during the plan period. Time stops while you use another app and continues when you return. Changing a budget applies the new rule to use already accumulated in the current period; it does not erase prior use.
3. App selection and names
Apple provides the system app picker. To protect privacy, ScrollMind receives protected tokens and cannot freely read a complete app inventory or reverse a token into an app name.
The system picker displays real app icons and names. Back in ScrollMind, some areas may show “Selected App” or a number. We display labels or icons where Apple permits, without bypassing system privacy protections.
Multi-purpose apps such as WeChat can only be managed by total app time. ScrollMind cannot isolate Moments, Channels, or chats.
4. Reminders and protection
What does “Take a break” do?
In Adult Mode, it pauses the current scrolling session first. After the break defined by the current rule, the system may provide a limited period of access. The app shows the applicable timing when the rule is set.
What does “Done for today” do?
It protects the selected items for the rest of the current plan period, until the next period or until you change the rule in ScrollMind.
A button appears unresponsive
Allow a few seconds for the system extension to update, then return to the managed app and check again. If nothing changes, note the button, time, device model, and system version and contact support.
5. Child Mode and shared devices
A child-dedicated device can keep child rules active for longer periods. A shared device can switch between Adult and Child use. Access to parent controls or leaving Child Mode requires a separate parent passcode. Family modes do not accept Face ID or Touch ID instead of that passcode.
In the current design, a parent changes the budget or grants temporary time inside ScrollMind. The child's protection screen does not automatically grant an extra ten minutes, so reaching a limit does not become a routine bypass.
Managed apps remain blocked
Open the parent area in ScrollMind and stop the current protection or adjust the plan. If protection remains, turn off the plan and allow time for system synchronization. Deleting the app should not be the first troubleshooting step because the system extension may still need a state refresh.
6. Subscriptions and restore purchases
Apple processes purchases. After changing devices or reinstalling, use the same Apple ID and choose “Restore Purchases” on the ScrollMind subscription screen.
To cancel, open system Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions. Deleting ScrollMind does not cancel a subscription. Apple handles billing and refund requests under App Store policies.
